OPSEC: Operational Security - It's a system of keeping information with the people who need it and away from those who don't. The reasons for vary; for us it's to protect us WTSHTF. We believe in helping our family and neighbors when/where/if we can, but I don't need five or 20 extra people camping out front because they didn't follow any of the advice on the site. Just prepare, it's easier for everyone!

Poser: In this context, it's someone who 'plays survivalist'. They may have some kit, some supplies, and even had some training, but are almost completely useless in a real world situation. I personally feel that, many "survivalists" are closer to this end of the scale than they'd like to admit, myself included. The only way to move up the scale is to practice STSPD.

Sheeple - Blissfully ignorant people who, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, continue to believe that conditions and situation which have occurred in the past won't happen to them now or ever. They aren't prepared for emergencies or disasters, but will expect aid when they're impacted by one. (see couch commando and poser)

STSPD: Shit Those "Survival People" Do/Shit That "Survival People" Do - Sheeple use this term to label the activities of preparation, which they believe are a waste of time.

TEOTWAWKI: acronym for The End Of The World As We Know It. Self explanitory, yes?

T-minus: All the time leading up to a specific time, "t". We hear this most often with rocket launch countdowns

T-plus: "T" is the specific time of an event, like when the space shuttle launches. "t-plus" is all time after the event is initiated, such as the launch. I use it to mean something like "all the time spent in a survival situation".

TUT: The Undisclosed Town - The closest town to our homestead. We don't specifically name it for OPSEC.

ZULU: Commonly known as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) or Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) is a time synchronized to that of the Prime Meridian which runs through Royal Greenwich Observatory in Greenwich, UK. It is not the same as London time.

I've been getting emails regarding whether or not people can use this glossary. The answer is a resounding YES!
